However, it is illegal under the Wireless Telegraphy Act to listen to airband unless you are in the control tower or flying an aircraft on the frequency - and even then it's restricted to conversation to do with the safe operation of aircraft, so requests for the tower to arrange a taxi are illegal too..... Check out the OFCOM's Information Sheet 169 which is about this very subject. (note, OFCOM took over the Radiocommunication Agency which originally published this document, hence the RA logo in the corner, not OFCOM's logo.
What this means for this website is that we will not be listing callsigns on the Visitors Page. My understanding of the whole situation (not necessarily right, by the way!) is that it is fine to own an airband radio, it's not OK to use it and even less OK to publish anything heard on it. So, as we like to keep inside the law, that's how we stand on this website. Practise has shown that the authorities are generally very tolerant of the use of airband and various books have been published on the subject!
